Dear Dad:
Just a line to let you know that I have not forgotten you and will try and write you once in a while.
You would really be interested in seeing the huge amounts of machinery of all kinds and sizes which the US government has shipped in here for the rebuilding of France and I am here to tell you that it will be a huge job.  The US engineers are just the ones for the job.  They have a lot of machinery here that would certainly be of great value to you on the desert after the war.  They had about  - generators in one large shipment that I saw the other day.
I have not as yet seen any great amount of German trophies.  Most of them seem to have been gathered up previous to our arrival.
Are Paul and Rena in Santa Ana again?  I heard so.
Well all for now and more at a later time.
Your son,
Stanley
